Progress, progression...garden and life

Ankle (and other slightly battered bits) inspected by the doctor this morning..both of us were relieved at no breakages..but I don't have a brilliant history with ligaments.  The good news is that if needed they now have a physio at the surgery.

Taking advantage of a dry morning I planted garlic cloves..88....and planted out four chard plants.

And the bees were busy on the oregano

The To Do list

Is gradually moving over to the Done side!

And Pirate's elder daughter has just sent me a gift

Just what is needed after gardening!

And it is six months today... Still doesn't feel right...but you just have to keep on keeping on.

  1. I am not growing garlic this year because ours soon rotted. I think next time I grow it will be on a ridge. It horrible and wet here today.

  3. I like your very visible To Do list. Mine is written down and hidden in a drawer.

  5. Good for you to get out there planting, even if banged up! My granddaughter planted my garlic for me, and it just occurred to me that in my post-surgical daze I gave her no instruction! I guess she figured it out. Still need to get my leeks in, but I am doubtful that Larry will do it. We shall see.

  6. Six months is no time at all. I admire the way you're dealing with it all.

    1. Just keep on keeping on. It is what he wanted...so...no point feeling sorry for myself..there are always others worse off

  7. Your an inspiration.
I like your to do list. It’s very clever. Sometimes your busy all day and you wonder did I actually achieve anything. This would be like a pat on the back from you to you

  8. Six months… gosh… Such a loss…
I too admire the way you are keeping on keeping on – – I think that is smart and good. A group of older women volunteer at the thrift store, and when one of them came back after losing her husband in his 80s, one of the other women looked at her and said, “stay busy “.
    She was talking from experience.

I like your idea of to do Post-it’s, and then moving them to the “done” side – – I’d never seen that! I think I will try that too!

  9. Adjusting to a new normal happens slowly. Like you state, keeping on is key and you have a busy life with lots to do, places to go and a good circle of friends and family.
Sore muscles and ligaments will heal - all in time. Having a Physio available is good too.
    That is a lovely gift.

  12. The first year is the hardest. All the old memories and anniversaries keep coming. Good for you that you can keep moving forward.

  13. Pointless or not, you are allowed to feel sorry for yourself.
Two years ago a very close friend died -not a husband, nor a partner or even a parent, 'just' a friend. I miss her every single day.
You are allowed to feel exactly however you feel.

  14. Those post it notes are a great idea! They allow you to feel as if you are actually accomplishing something.

I'm glad that Pirate's daughter did you a kindness.
