To the sea!

Along the last bit of the Mountains to the Sea trail

The bike and walk path isn't complete yet, but not far  off. Just about 7km I think from the middle of the city...the River City.

A nice ride, quite a few other cyclists, walkers, scooters!

  4. The views are beautiful. The mountains and sea make a great landscape. Cliffs next to the sea are always fascinating. NZ offers much beauty.

  7. What is the significance of the train? I had to go off and read about tsunamis. I didn't realize that NZ deals with one, one average, ever 10 years. In thinking about that, I probably should have.

  8. There is something deep that always draws me back to the sea m’dear, guess that I’m just a primitive little bugger when all is said and done…and to echo Debby, what is it with the burrowing train?

    1. I'll have to investigate that one...there was a train disaster a long time ago, torrential rains and a lahar and a bridge washed away..the train went into the river... could be that....

  10. Fascinating photos and history. I hate graffiti though, cannot see any point in defacing things like that. The upturned train, yes, that is really a curiosity!
