Friends

Yesterday I made a trip down to see our friends...a beautiful day and a lovely visit.

Talking about all sorts of things, looking at my photos of my trip to NZ...

and back home in the sunshine.. although the smoke from fires is in the air so must still be burning

Then at home put the latest yoghurt production in a jar..and the small jar is the starter for the next batch.

And the sunset... smokey..

Today was the day to buy tickets for a trip.in August, before all the affordable ones went!!

Plus some calligraphy supplies for writing card backs!

  8. I didn't know about your wildfires. I did not know it was so dry there. Take care.

  9. impressive making own yoghurt, my mother once attempted cheese and ended up with poisoning! I have therefore never dared tamper with dairy - yours looks thick and delicious.

    1. I've drained one batch further to make a firmish "soft" cheese, adding a bit of salt at the end.
My grandmother used to do that

  10. Fires are generally not good but they do make for some very deeply coloured sunsets.

  11. Good for you, settling on summer plans! I still have no idea what I'm doing over the summer. A lot depends on the dog.

  12. That is very interesting to me! My yoghurt has more whey than I like. So this 'soft cheese'...is it like cream cheese? How do you eat it?

    1. I suppose it is a bit like cream cheese....look up "crowdie" that is the nearest.
You must use yoghurt of the same fat level as the milk..
I use organic full fat milk, if I can get it not homogenised and as it comes, not 100% skimmed and a percentage of fat replaced as is most milk on the shop shelf.
With that my first starter is Organic full fat Greek Style yoghurt...no pectin or gelatine...and from then on, I reserve a portion as a starter for next time

  14. I love your jars of yoghurt. Put a ribbon around them and they would like a great gift.

    1. I give jars of preserves as gifts, but I don't think something as perishable as yoghurt would be advisable
