Then up the riverside road past ancient tanneries, to a café that is only open Friday and Saturday...and is in an old tannery..
Other buildings across the courtyard are Tu as gîtes.
After a good meal, home for a siesta, watering run then out to watch Friend's son play football..the local club is 80 years ols

ReplyDeleteWhat is it about French townscapes that make them so identifiably French? They differ slughtlt across regions but all cry 'We are French" (Nous sommes Francaises)?

DeleteThat is a wonderful sign for a forge. I have a very vague memory as a child of a forge in Henham and walking by it with my parents. It had huge doors opened so you could watch the blacksmith at work. Henham was then a very rural quiet village. Jean in Winnipeg

DeleteMy french is passable - just - very definitely only basic tenses and limited vocabulary. I seldom bother with all the gender stuff either ... But it is enough to get by and make friends. I wish my welsh was half as good.

DeleteI took french at high school but I was sooooo bad at it, but at least I can order a coffee or chocolate bread or say hello or goodbye that's about it. fab photos, hope you enjoyed it
