Alone...and a step in the right direction

Alone again in the house...feels most odd after having a houseful for nearly a week.

The Oily One and friend had a good clear day to start their journey southwards.

Fortunately they weren't going North as north of Glasgow and Edinburgh the snow has arrived. Aberdeen airport was closed today due to snow and ice.

Hopefully they are calling on The Geek...son#2...on their way , as I gave them a few things to give to him and partner.

Family courier system.... sometimes it works!!

With a fine day here, all the visitors' bedding has been washed and beds put away. It mostly dried too, despite being bitterly cold outside. Ironing has been done and I'm making a list of jobs to tackle tomorrow, starting with making a new cover for the ironing board.

Another job is to clear a space for fresh pots, as with freezing temperatures unfired pots will freeze...which doesn't do them any good.

I got brave....as there is a special offer of 20% off the price..I enrolled on a course with the Alliance Française in Glasgow....nine Saturday mornings...plus homework...

So from 31 January to 28 March I shall be out for the 7.11 bus every Saturday!!

  1. A busy day all right!
I am impressed that you signed up for French class! I need to learn a little bit if we are going to go to Canada this summer. I have a tiny bit from high school but not that is probably completely useless.

    1. Canadian French isn't exactly like the French you'd get in classes...come to think of it neither is French in a lot of places in France!

  2. It can be lonely when visitors leave…
Brave GZ, taking a class! I might follow your lead! I’ve missed having a course of study.
How far is Glasgow from you (how long on the bus)?

    2. Yes...it is lonely.
Three buses is better than Saturday driving...and parking...

    3. Oh , that trip is like me going to Duluth to see my friend Marz (going to the U there).
      Do-able.

And being active staves off some loneliness (I hope).

    1. Showing that you're not just doing for Saturday entertainment? Hopefully as I do Duolingo twice a day already, shouldn't be too bad!

  4. It always seems very quiet once the kids leave. Isn't it peaceful?

  6. You don't waste any time in getting back into it.
The French course sounds very interesting, but the bus journey would tire me out!

  7. Good for you! I took an Alliance Française class for a couple of years about a decade ago, and it was an interesting and fun experience. I still can't really speak French but that's more down to me than the teachers. :)

  8. It's always nice to have company and always nice to have them leave. Quiet, sometimes lonesome, but also peaceful. The French class sounds wonderful! It's a good way to start the new year and I wish you a happy one!

  9. With help, you've re-ordered the entire house. That's impressive.
Your new French class will introduce more people into your circle and that's always a good thing.
Regionally, French dialects vary greatly. How do you choose the right one for you?

    1. Well.... I've made a good start, with help. Now I have to carry on.
I think fate chose it for me...and listening to Reels from all over France I think I'm right...when I was in Haute Vienne for a fortnight I could follow what was said. There were some different words...but you pick them up as you go.

  10. I've been trying to learn Welsh online for ages. I might not be any good but it gives me a connection.
