Mornings still suck....I think it is part of living alone, on my part....not having someone else there. I don't know.
Anyhow, I got myself out for a walk in the sunshine before lunch. I didn't fancy a road walk so Hannahston it was. A floral day...one open patch is full of cowslips now! Plus the violets are lurking in the wooded sections..
Then to work after lunch.
The first two are five pounds of clay each...the next two seven . They will all lose a fair amount when I've turned and cut the footrings, but when thrown they need extra thickness there to support the shape.

I know nothing about pottery so when you describe something it's interesting.
ReplyDeletelearning new things is fascinating whatever age you are! x
DeleteI imagined evenings alone would be hard. Not having someone to discuss the day with. I never thought that mornings would be just as hard.
ReplyDeleteI hope that feeling fades in time
I am not suggesting you get an animal - not in the slightest, but I find that because I have a dilly dog and a cranky cat I have company. It is silly how much they fill that silence and although they are not great conversationalists (!) they are there, in the kitchen or in the garden or on the bed.
ReplyDeletelike Pirate did..I make do with others' animals socialising with me! The way we've travelled..and I still do, I couldn't justify having pets.
DeleteSeven pounds of clay sounds a lot to handle.
ReplyDeletepractice!! There are many ways of doing it though...
DeleteBeautiful flower. Moving up to seven pounds of clay is no joke. Your wrists and back must be feeling that extra weight, but the height and volume you're getting are impressive. They look sturdy and proud.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work GZ. Every piece looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteI could never make very large or very flat vessels, and I imagine that's because I never used enough clay! (Well, among other issues related to poor pottery skills. LOL)
ReplyDeleteYou've done alot here, I think I like the big bowl, 3rd from the bottom, have a great week.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Those are really nice shapes.
ReplyDeleteI love that you do decorative finishes underneath as well. Scully and I live mornings on our own - get going, do stuff... it's evenings I find harder when Mr B is away for long periods.
