I'm still here!

I'm house sitting a 331 year old cottage. It is very cosy whilst being wet and windy out there.

However the computer system used is 15 years old and begins with W....and the browser begins with an I and an E......and being a bit rural....all of this adds up to extreme slowness!! But at least I'm here, with you all for company!!

There is also a garden to potter in, IF it gets dry enough!!

I went to collect a car-load of bagged pony manure at lunchtime from near Blaenafon, and the water was running off the mountain in streams. The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings, but we should be fine in this hamlet. (the cottage has its own flood barrier and it has never been nearer than a metre to the top!!)

I've posted off the last 2011 order, hand delivered another, so just one storage jar to go- but as the recipient has gone to the Nederlands until next week, it can wait!!
I topped up the stock in the gallery in The Court Cupboard this morning, with small mugs and pin trays and small pencil pots and bottles. They may be small, but they are selling, for which we are all thankful.

Now to light the wood burning stove and think of supper!!
Enjoy your Festivities, however you do them :-)

  8. I'm just trying to count back 15 years (maths never my strong point)... and am wondering... W**** 95 or 98... Yay!

Anyway, well done getting orders done, and now house sitting something of a wondrous age (by New Zealand standards). Our Old Post Office building (that we live in) was built 1907..., and that is old here, oh well!!

Hope the flooding doesn't come to much...

    Happy Christmas! xx

  9. Mmm. Perfect christmas gift?- A car load of bagged horse-shit!
I can think of things I'd prefer. Almost anything else, to be honest.

    Hamlet.
A lovely word. Reminds me of a small, smoked, pig.
Or of Shakespeare's prince. "I am but mad north-north-west: when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw."

Hamlet, Afrikaans, is 'Omlet'... "Hamlet, I am your father's ghost" is "Omlet, ik ben de papa spook"...
    So much for hamlets.
Keep putting logs on the fire, have a great christmas, and don't stray far without your wellies.

  11. I would love a bag of horse manure for Christmas but don't think Santa would put it in the sleigh. Have a wonderfully quiet holiday in the hamlet.

warm and raining here, very strange as we are usually stocking the wood pile and shoveling the walk........ not this year Mother Nature has is having a hot flash. Bread is rising without needing a warm spot in the kitchen, but not complaining.

  12. Happy Christmas to you in that ancient cottage. You will have to take pics of the water running off the mountains!

    A peaceful New year also.
