  2. I was going to say that the top picture looked appetising.... then I realised its connection with the bottom one! Still, one of these days I might try crystallised oranges with pistachio nuts, which is what I thought it was....

  3. Love the drawing! We have several of those ferns in our garden.

  4. Jenny I was lucky to buy a yoghurt maker in a Lidl sale shop...but they aren't that expensive. It works on the Bain Marie method to keep the milk and starter mix warm..I usually do it overnight.
I bring two pints of whole milk gently up to 180-190⁰Fahrenheit and keep it there for 5 minutes...then I have the kitchen sink full of cold water, and pour the milk from one plastic jug to another...with the lower one in cold water..it takes about 5 minutes to get it just below 110⁰F. Then mix in half a small pot of Yeo live bio yoghurt, in the pot that sits in the machine in a little water. Lids on, then on overnight...next step it goes in the fridge for 24 hours, but you can use it straight away. I strain it after that, first reserving enough to start the next batch. The whey is good in smoothies and soups.
I like to start a new batch when we start on the previous one.
You can just use a wide mouthed vacuum flask, wrapped in blankets for extra insulation, but I like the reliability of the machine which uses very little electricity.

  5. I would love to have a yogurt maker. Although thermos yogurt making works just fine.
