Kelvingrove Gallery and Museum

After walking along Sauchiehall Street I did a detour meaning to visit the Hidden Lane,..and misremembered....I must have turned one block short....next time.....

And then to Kelvingrove again, this time with over two hours to spare....The Glasgow Boys, the Colourists, Dutch Flemish and French painting...a video on restoration (and relief to sit for a while!!)

But I arrived as the organ recital was nearly finished...

And the floors are fascinating....

Remember the hanging head sculptures...part of "Expressions"...I asked what they are made of....the lower ones, fibreglass... the higher ones , if I remember correctly, vacuum formed thermoplastic.

Time to move on, out and past the Kelvin Hall....where indoor athletic events were held, before they built the new indoor Velodrome and Athletics building for the Commonwealth games.

  1. What a great spectrum of art. And definitely well designed floors!
