Year turning and planning

Beautiful roses...the first a delicate pink that fades to white..the second a Bourbon rose with a heavenly scent...Compte de Chambord, named for Napoleon Buonaparte's grandson.
I'm still picking a little fruit most days

I'm going to leave the rest of the redcurrants for the blackbirds, and I've started on the blackcurrants...while the blackbirds have started on the Jostaberries, which have hardly started changing from green. I have a feeling that I won't be seeing many of them!

I've lifted half of the garlic crop, before the hot weather disappears ..We have rain forecast for tomorrow.

The sky seventy minutes before solstice...and then almost there..

This morning was quite hot...after a little fruit picking it was time for a bus trip to town...a little shopping.... actually buying clothes!! Not a lot...just a couple of things that will pack small for the French trip....and next week's trip to Wales by train will be a good test run!!

Oh, those hungry, hungry birds!

Colourful fruit. Red currants are so jewel-like. They make a really vibrant jam (colour and taste) 50/50 with raspberries.

As we have just had our winter solstice I really should of planted my garlic.
I haven’t. I’ve not planted any winter veg.
I’ve got lots of summer vegetables in the freezer and they’re keeping us well fed.
I think our garden and I are enjoying the rest
We needed it

You are a whirlwind, gz.

I have garlic envy. I am not going to attempt it again after the rust episode.

I had rust on garlic two years ago I think..it is the same one that you get on leeks.

gz said...

Not really...just keeping on keeping on

gz said...

I'd still get it in if you can

That is an interesting suggestion.

Hasn't it been a good time for roses!
I have fruit envy looking at your photos.

Your roses are stupendous. I just rediscovered my one lonely 'bush' after so much neglect. France? Toes crossed you will be able to show us your travels.

Enjoy your Wales and France trips.

Did you mention a trip to France? I missed that! I haven't bought clothes in years. Dave told me yesterday I had to throw away my t-shirt because it has holes in it. (I'm not throwing it away.)

The berries and garlic look so good. Freshly harvested is the ideal. The train to Wales and then off to France sounds like good fun. Enjoy!

Great garden when you are harvesting many things. My garden is just starting to come up. It's been very dry.

I agree with Dave!! However, if the image on the T shirt is important, it can be made into something else...or the image part sewn onto a cushion cover ??!!

We had over a month hot and dry in May, but with cold winds..most odd...things in shelter grew well if you watered them... anything in the wind didn't

Josta berries are new to me! What an abundance you have of different berries, gz.
