Housework done, I drove to Fife friend's house late morning, and waited for him to walk back from chapel ( which in Scotland means Catholic...I wonder why it has ended up that way round here)
Then to Dunfermline where the sofa bed resided that I was buying....
The owner has said that it was 5 foot wide..
It was.. BETWEEN the arms...
I now know that I can get a 6 foot sofa in the back of a Berlingo with no rear seats and the passenger seat as far forward as possible!!!!
We were about to give up when it decided to cooperate!
Back through Dunfermline...and there were lots of people walking away from a park....and Xmas floats....and Papa Smurf driving in the other direction on a motorbike!!
We both needed a coffee after all that!!
Then a good drive home...and arriving just as night fell.
Picture tomorrow to prove that it was done!!
Well done! Furniture wrangling.
ReplyDeleteWhat people mean when they give measurements can vary wildly!
Quite a day! I remember when we crammed our long couch into our van! It was quite a job, but a brand new sofa bed for $15? Yes, ma'am, we were going to make that thing fit!
ReplyDeleteYou had a busy day.
ReplyDeleteGetting that sofa home sounds like it was fun! Looking forward to the photographic evidence.
ReplyDeleteA fun day 😉
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at what can be put into smallish cars with a little thought and ingenuity. Once called it brains over brawn, although it sounds like a bit of brawn was needed too.!
ReplyDeleteWith great persistence, you accomplished your goal.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a will, there is a way. That's my motto.
Well, thank goodness THAT worked out!
ReplyDeleteI have got a few furniture adventures of my own! All I can saw is that you now have a sofa that will give you a smile every time you sit on it and remember the day you brought it home.
