Our trip was disrupted.....it is the weekend that prospective university students get to tour the Campus...which includes the Arts Centre.
The exhibition that we wanted to see was supposed to be open today...but because of the occasion won't be open until Monday. A pity, not just because we wanted to see it...but it would have given prospective students a taste of what goes on.
My camera was busy.....
The Artes Mundi exhibition was open...and the "washing line" made some interesting patterns...as did the sun (yay, sunshine!!)
Foiled there, we went into town...and the only parking space was by the old harbour ( daughter can't walk far so is in a self propelled wheelchair..sometimes with teenager power on steep bits!)
A walk around the castle, a short look at the open market, a small gallery...and lunch in the Dragonfly, a brilliant small veggie and vegan café.
Public toilets
I'm not sure what the bottle "hovel" would have been....over a pottery kiln, a grain dryer or what?! Time to investigate!!
Then back for a cuppa...and sort the maps that I brought down for them.
Quite a few will assist in family history research. And it means less on my shelves....
Just checked..it was a Maltings kiln .and you can visit it..one for next time!

Looks like a delightful day out with family -- good times! I love the logo for the Dragonfly Bistro -- very clever!
ReplyDeleteyou got alot of interesting photos here, looks like a lot of history in this town.
ReplyDeleteMuch history but then developed for Victorian tourists, plus the university of Wales in 1872
DeleteSplendid day out - I like Aber though I don't get to see much of it as always going on the extra miles to Tam's out in the sticks. What a shame the exhibition wasn't on till Monday. Tam knows Dragonfly - vegan place up near the Market?
ReplyDeleteYes, vegan and vegetarian
DeleteTouring the city with family sounds like a great day.
ReplyDeleteThe ocean views are also lovely. The whitecaps were plentiful with a rough sea.
Next time you'll likely tour the uni.
That comes under Been there, Done that...but didn't stay long enough to get the TShirt!!
DeleteThat screen on the public toilets is almost middle-eastern
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how some Celtic designs have parallels there and other places around the world
DeleteMy first thought was pottery kiln -- it looks similar to the ones that used to exist in West London around Notting Hill. It must have been so great to have a sunny day! I love the shadows of the table and chairs.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at documenting your travels! Having tried it myself, I know it's not that easy to get a good selection... there's an art to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it.
The Dragonfly looks wonderful--I love that more and more places are vegan or have vegan options.
I love Aberystwyth- was there in Sunday actually. Fun fact - The new M&S has the first ever escalator in the town!!!
ReplyDelete...I like the harbor scene and the multicolored houses!
