St Swithin's day... apparently it is now supposed to rain for forty days and nights..it certainly started with a vengeance in Glasgow with five days worth of rain ina couple of hours.....
I ventured out in what looked, according to the radar maps, the most likely time to stay dry...a quick two bus journey, no wait on the way out and ten minutes wait on the return...and a mile away from home a cloudburst started!!.. luckily at my bus stop it has just subsided to light rain...just 200 m to walk!! But even in that short time the puddles were starting around the house
Today's job has been just finishing yesterday's three bowls and small platter..
Despite it being cooler and wet much of yesterday they had dried well..a little too well!!..but a quick spritz and wrap saved the day.
I discovered some new biscuits in the shop...not sure where they are from...
I am making a biscuit mould!! I've done similar before...it had to be fired with the biscuit!! Then you take the mould to make another impression...and THAT becomes your pattern stamp!

One assumes the biscuit doesn't survive - at least not in an edible form. Would never have guessed you could do that and would have spebt ages carving a stamp or looking for cookie stamps in junk shops. (These days they aren't treated as junk and cost a second mortgage.) Welcome to the weather! I finally invested in some muck boots.
According to Google, Bakerbird is based in London. Their biscuits look tasty!
St Swithin's Day -- that always makes me think of St Swithins Hospital in the old "Doctor in the House" books and TV series!
How clever!
I wouldn’t never think to use food.
Now I would be trying all sorts of things lol
Let's hope you don't get downpours for the next forty days.
Yes! I wonder what made them choose that name?!
Small print on the packet says licenced importer..but not where from...
Useful boots at any time of year!
A quick search in Duck duck go...shows that the trademark is owned by Monolith in London... their FB page says made with selected Nordic grains since 1892...The range of products and other clues suggest Ukrainian....
Your pottery is looking beautiful. I love the new patterns you are creating.
Rain freshens everything and I generally love it. 40 days of rain would likely change my mind.
Well, it only barely rained here, unfortunately! Little more than a light mist that evaporated quickly. The biscuit mold is an interesting idea! Are biscuit patterns copyrighted? Hmmm...
Possibly they are, but this is a basic chequerboard pattern..and I won't be using it straight as is
Have a wander round a kitchen shop...rummage in the kitchen drawers...and the button box...and earrings....
How clever to use the biscuit as a pattern! I would never have thought of that.
St. Swithin’s Day here is hot and humid. I do hope that doesn't mean 40 more days of this!
What a great idea. Rain here too, thank heavens, but not apparently too torrential. Means I don't have to use bucketfuls from the pond to water the runner beans anyway.
