Painting

Living room hopefully finished, as far as the yellow is concerned... because I'm wondering if a darker colour both sides of the chimney breast might make the room feel bigger... Excuse the stacked up clutter...

I'm thinking possibly the terracotta red of the chairs in Charleston Farmhouse painted by members of the Bloomsbury group.

the other side of the room is improving...and life will be even better when the "elephant in the room" has departed!!

The next things to go on sale will be the TV that I haven't used for 18 months and the sideboard that I'm gradually emptying. I'd like tall cabinets with glass doors to keep dust out...then my pot collection can be seen!

The bookshelves are looking better..less "temporary filing" on top of the books! Plus some larger pots on the top shelf

Time to do my French practice...then pack my bag for tomorrow's bus and ferry trip...I need to be out at 7 at the latest for the 7.11 bus...in case it is early!!

I'm a big believer in cabinets and bookshelves with glass doors -- the less dusting to do, the better!

Looking good GZ.
I do like dark feature walls. A friend in NZ has recently used eggplant color for her feature wall and placed a wall hanging made with NZ shells on the wall.

I was so bad at French at school but I can still remember the odd phrase. yes I think the colour at the chimney breast sounds good but keep the main part of the room light as it will make the room look bigger.

I have plans to refresh our living room at some point, we have some really great ideas but unfortunately very little cash.

Oh yes! I think that would look fantastic.
It will make that chimney “pop”
You are doing a magnificent job.

I think dark colours either side of your chimney breast would make the breast stand out but make the rest of the room shrink. its fine as it is. If you are able to swap your dark shelves/cupboards for glass that will lighten the room a lot too and would be lovely to have all your work on display. If you put things on the walls that will also make the room feel smaller so its good to have one feature wall if you can and have some bare space facing it - thats only my opinion, im no expert :) its uplifting to get a coat of paint on walls - I love to paint ceilings!

I love your above-manrle collection. It looks like one of those ' every piece had a story in my life' collections.
