Today's housework was.... starting to declutter the bathroom and vacuum floors downstairs....
Later one of our friends came by with contributions for the cycle jumble...and doesn't want any of the proceeds! There is some cleaning involved, but that is no great deal.
Then just after midday my car was lifted..its first step on the way to a garage near Ayr and a new clutch!!
The next quick job was halved and stone six pounds of plums!! Three layers of the dehydrator...with empty layers in between which will speed the (slow and steady) process....then off on the bus with slightly orange hands!!
I went to thank the travel agents for their well done work...and talk about the next trip....to the same place but aiming for nearer my destination to avoid giving my Friend a long drive back from an airport... Bordeaux is 2½ hours from home on a good day...
Then a little shopping..and a phone call from the son of Pirate's old opponent and eventually good mate...to say that he had died..when I saw who the missed call was from I guessed. He was a couple of years older and hadn't been in good health for quite a time...but like Pirate had still carried on riding his bike.

Boy, when you get home, you jump in! Well done!
Well done with the plums. I got my dehydrator out but haven't put it to use yet. Life has gotten in the way somewhat though. Oooh, planning your next trip to France already :)
That’s a lot of plums. I didn’t have as much as you. So I just froze mine in little bags. If the crop is better this year I might try then in the dehydrator
I’m so sorry about your friend.
Sorry to read that your friend has passed on.
You seem to have the energy of a whirlwind, and time for creativity as well. Sad news about the friend - even if not unexpected it always creates a hump in the road for that day .
Tigger's Mum it is just keeping going, filling the time... sometimes keeping thoughts at bay....
I don't have the patience to stone all the damsons my friend just delivered to me. They are too small and fiddly.
I am sorry to hear about your friend. xx
Another trip to France sounds ideal. I hope you return often. Everything seems to suit you well in France.
The plums look delicious.
Having your car again will make travel easier, especially as the weather turns.
Looking forward to seeing your photos of France when you are there. Thinking of you about your friend too.
I don't know when the next trip will be yet
It certainly will be easier with the car..but I'll be using public transport as much as I can
Yum, plums! I think I will try to dehydrated some pears this year. Have you ever done them?
Yes, a couple of years ago. I love nibbling dried pears..I'd love to know how to get fruit dry like the fruit you can buy...but I made them crisp..and pear and apple dried crisp are still tasty
