Apples

Mmmm, apples. Our are pretty much gone, sadly. We only got a gallon and a half of cider after making all that applesauce. But we still have lots of pears, so some of those will be made into cider.

Scrumping. There was a great line of apple trees on the old A27 that I used to scrump but the best variety was always destroyed by bird pecks (like half eaten by bird pecks).

That's a good haul of foraged apples. Friends with apple trees here now have me on their "she'll have a boxful" list . . . I try and store them as long as possible, and use for baking.

It's apple season! In Maine, my friend Jill and her friend Jaques are making cider and apple pies.

Here, cider is not alcoholic as a rule. Apple juice has a higher water content. Cider can become an alcoholic drink. I would like to see the juicer you use. Forgive me if you have shown it before.
