New card printing...
Not just the C word.... there are nearly thirty other celebrations of light in different forms in the month that spans the solstice.
So I start on the equinox with a block that I've used already for my personal greetings cards a few years ago.
Now for the difficult job....creating others to go with it!!
Back to being alone again...feels odd.
There is always plenty (too much!) to do.
I'll start on glaze rehydration today..that can sit and look after itself for a while....and also apple juicing.
I collected what I could carry from a tree in the nature reserve...the ground was covered underneath the tree! I hadn't seen much blossom in the spring, or growing fruit later on, but as it is now surrounded by other trees all the apples had grown at the top!!
It was good to have a conversation with three teen lads who were having a stroll around the reserve path. Showing them what was ripe, explaining why there weren't so many large apples and saying what I would make from them...juice, jelly, spread..maybe a pie...and they all tried eating a ripe apple. Even the one who wasn't keen on apples!

Given half a chance teenager boys would live on a diet of hot chips and fizzy drink…..well at least that it seemed like when mine were that age. Was the fruit a novelty for them?
I like these very much. I have to get on the stick with stuff for the November sale or it will all be old inventory. That won't do!
I like your tree card. One or two images on a card is lovely.
For the holidays, how about:
A holy wreath card?
A deer standing among a couple trees?
A pond with a skater?
An outline of a house front with a wreath on the door?
An outline of an old fashion sleigh sitting on snow?
Wild fruit yes..."is it poisonous?"...
They need to be simple...and possibly good to use away from seasonal times...and to cover any belief...a tall order!!
I see you're keeping busy. Now we have darker mornings (noticable when I drive to Malvern), and darker evenings, it's easy to get glum again. I see less of my family too, as they all live 1 3/4 hours away and shorter days/poor weather not conducive to travel. Keep up the good work with the cars.

I would add a moon and a star or two above the tree and stamp the tree in a very dark green. Could you line draw the suggestion of a snow bank and a squiggley tree shadow?
30 celebrations of light - where do you get this info? Presumeably not all totally unrelated. How about some cards for Up Helyaa? (i don't suppose they send cards for that - it seems more of an activity than a sentiment)
I saw a list of 26 last year..wish I could find it again...
How wonderful that you took time to talk with those boys. So often we dont take time to talk to the young and yet, how will they learn?
I do enjoy your foraging posts. They remind me of myself when I was much younger, and would go off for tramps through the woods and fields around here, gathering what I could. That was before I had to go to work at a regular job...then college, a new baby and ever more demanding jobs. And now? I no longer feel the urge, but I do love reading about your treks.
