Early start this morning!
Through falling yellow leaves and mist to the market at Piégut-Plouviers.
The small town is absolutely full of market stalls and people. We had a lovely morning, talking to people (yes, I managed a bit!) made a contact with a potter ..then found later that we have friends in common!
Bought some roast nuts coated in praline...had café allongé in a sports bar and people watched as the sun burnt off the very autumnal mist
And bought a handmade bag to carry my drawing book..it has a popper closure, I'll add a buckle when I return to Scotland.
Then home for lunch and a rest and watching the Tour de Limousin, stage two, on the TV!! Watching the helicopter shots you could see that despite the good tree cover there are many trees that appear to be dying.
With thunder in the direction of Limoges (and we learnt later flooding and trees down) we went to the allotment and I helped a little with the job of setting up a new water butt before any rain.
And to the left..
Contrasting skies.

Looks like someone got a decent shower.
Purple fat clouds - glowering. We lost several vranches on our Black Doris plum, laden wirh fruit, in the spring. Fortunately there was atill enough connected to keep them alive and the fruit ripened. We pruned them in the autumn.
I love Black Doris plums...and Reine Claude..the greengage
I love that sturdy pottery jug!
Your photos captured the contrasting skies beautifully. Someone had the good fortune to get the rain.
Drought is very hard on everything.
It sounds a wonderful place to visit.
the world of pottery can be a small one. How neat to discover common friends. Toes crossed you got more than a sprinkle. We had over an inch last night. The first real rain in many weeks. Stay dry!
Well, I'm glad you got some rain, at least. Hopefully not so much that there is flooding! Apparently drought-stressed trees do drop limbs in order to try to stay alive.
Speaking of black doris plums, the one on my neighbour's property that overhangs mine has just been pruned and is due to be cut down in a few months, such a shame.
That pot is a wonderful thing.
Toulouse had serious flooding...and Limoges had a good dousing 25 km from here..and not 15 km from here a chateau lost its roof to fire after a lightning strike
It sounds wonderful. I've heard there's quite a drought in France so I hope that rain helped.
Beautiful pot! Those onions are nice too. Sounds like a really nice day.
