Vendredi..le 15 Aout

Today was the day to collect water from the Lavoire..where the village used to do their washing. Now people collect water for their gardens.

The water was siphoned out into two water butts on the back of the tractor.

(After friend's son jump started it on the allotment with his car!)

Slowly back to the allotment, trying not to spill a drop!

We saw wood ants running across the chemin.

Mint with meadow brown butterflies... getting close enough, still got long enough and in focus was impossible!!

Son lifted two rows of potatoes while Friend watered and I picked brambles.

Then back up to the house past a garden gate

A quick shopping trip...just to Aldi, everywhere else is closed as it is a holiday.

Then lunch...and a rest indoors as the temperature rose to 38⁰ outside....then supper and back to the allotment for watering as the temperature dropped ten degrees

A bumper crop of tomatoes. They look yummy
It’s much nicer having friends to garden with. Not only do you finish quicker, the effect on the body is much less

Those tomatoes look very choice! Quite a rigmarole - is it a regular chore for them?

This weather , yes...as the well at the allotment has dried up

I am inspired by that garden gate. (mine will need rabbit proof netting applied to one side).

I say 'yes' to the afternoon siestas. Lousy that the well went dry at the allotment, but how fortunate that there is a water source available. vicariously enjoying your vacation.

Country life! Working the land, growing beautiful tomatoes and hauling water seems to be the norm.

Wonderful pictures of French country life. I'm especially fond of the last one.
