tractors!!!!....and happy 70th Fergie

Little Grey Fergies doing all sorts of things. Well it is the Ferguson Grey tractor's 70th birthday this year!

 not just pulling....

and tractors of many hues-

 one from Denmark,originally...

and one like he learned to drive on....age nine....
one of the three remaining 1930 Fergies

and the original tractor...a Clydesdale Horse!

There were all sorts of cars, a few bikes, many stationary engines and implements to follow tractors or horses. All sorts of stalls, food tents and a craft tent. The lorries were in the car park of the mart as it was so muddy.

They included this one....one of just over 130 tank transporters, ten of which the 5 year old Pirate saw lined up ready to go to France in the orchard in Kent where he was born.

I've heard of tractor meets but never been to one. They seem to have a lot in Suffolk, when we go there, and the local newsagents also have line ups of tractor magazines when I never even see ONE tractor magazine anywhere else I go! There is something very likeable about old tractors. I am sure that if you drove machines like this you'd feel so much more connected with the land than in the modern enclosed behemoths where the guys just sit with their headphones driving around all day.

Love these old tractors. They remind me of my children's toy ones, and of course of a much calmer bygone era! xCathy
