Garden veges and health

I used the beetroot, root and top, in tonight's soup...along with tomatoes, sweet hot peppers, garlic, shallots, cucumbers, a small courgette , a few very small squashes....all from the garden...plus some ginger and harissa!

Satisfying...and clears a nice space on the kitchen bench!!

A good meds sort out today, thanks to our district nurse...and the surgery.

Pirate's UTI is no longer the one he started with..so quick change to a different AB.  On top of the internal "disinfectant" he was prescribed last week, that should sort that.

Plus raising the slow release morphine dose from the very low starter level.  Hopefully he will be a happier bunny in a couple of days!

He sent a chatty email to some of his family members...on health matters as well as other things. Hopefully that will get the message through that he is on palliative care...but still being positive and doing what he likes to do.

One especially has been rather dismissive...which hurts him.

Onwards and upwards...night all!! xx

Trees

We had lunch out today..a little late, so Let's Go For It !!

Then a walk in a park after a browse around the Ayrshire Art Society's annual exhibition.

Pirate on the roadway...for size comparison! I had to angle the camera to get it all in!!

We are trying to get a walk in every day..this was more of a wander.

District Nurse tomorrow, hopefully we will get more answers to questions..or she can tell us who and how to ask....

Palliative care is ok, managing pain...but knowing what is causing the pain would help understanding.

Pirate is chatting with a friend in Whanganui now...how we would love to be there again !  He sends us photos of everyone, great to see how they are getting on.  It raises the spirits, talking with them, gives us hope and strength to carry on.

Autumn and help

Our Fifer friend is over for a couple of days.

He is good company and inspiration for Pirate...so my workshop is clearer of other people's stuff, thanks to both of them.

He has identified some of the bike bits I have to sell, a great help. While they were busy I pruned out the thornless bramble canes that had fruited this year and picked the ripe pinto bean pods to finish drying in the greenhouse.

Today we had lunch out, trying a local café at a fishery, and had a post lunch walk in Hannahston to pick up windfall apples for juicing..then as Pirate had a siesta we cleared and cleaned the garden paths.

The house now looks definitely cared for and lived in!

Now to watch tonight's rugby final....

Oops...

I found out this morning what the problem was in Manchester....the very very small print says that when you book on someone's behalf, despite the company having all that person's details...you are responsible if they break the no smoking rule and the room has to be deep cleaned.

£150 later....

What I should have done was to get her to book the room with her email on my tablet...which would have been possible.....

Never mind, one lesson learnt.

Home again

We had the best crossing in beautiful sunshine that you could imagine.

Then straight on the road, 57 miles to Inverness. It would have been nice to stop and take photos, with the snow on the Cairngorms...but the light was fading.

We arrived as it finally was dark.

Then today we finally got away just before eleven..and straight into cloud going up over Slochd...and clear the other side..relief!

We found the bike shop in Aviemore...and they recommended a café...cyclists are the best ones to ask! And there we went..after Pirate had bought himself a pair of gloves for use when he rides the track at the Velodrome.

Then off again..a pit stop at Broxden outside Perth...a shopping stop on the South edge of Glasgow at Newton mearns...then home. 207 miles from Inverness.

As it was still light, we unloaded the car before supper..and checked the post.

Strangely we have a letter saying that we owe for cleaning our Travelodge room in Manchester because of smoking. Apart from the fact that this is for the 6th of October...and our room wasn't cleaned until after we left on the 8th, after our week's stay there...we don't smoke...

Something to sort out in the morning. But not the welcome home that we had hoped for.

Himself has retired to bed...his job is navigation and observation...so not very taxing...but he is still battling that UTI...antibiotic course number three has been started...and is working..but we need to find out why they aren't clearing the infection properly.

What di I do first thing tomorrow? Pack and send four eBay sales and catch up on the paperwork!!

We have just realised something....the person above us at the Manchester Travelodge was throwing rubbish out of their window...some rather dubious rubbish. I think they are the culprit.

Catching up

On the ferry now, a nice smooth crossing..looks like we have two nice days to travel

Comments and reading list have reloaded nicely...but is anyone having trouble accessing Steve's blog?

I will try again with the tablet tonight, but on my phone, Google thinks that it is pornographic...not just a post, the whole lot 😥
