Garden veges and health

I used the beetroot, root and top, in tonight's soup...along with tomatoes, sweet hot peppers, garlic, shallots, cucumbers, a small courgette , a few very small squashes....all from the garden...plus some ginger and harissa!

Satisfying...and clears a nice space on the kitchen bench!!

A good meds sort out today, thanks to our district nurse...and the surgery.

Pirate's UTI is no longer the one he started with..so quick change to a different AB.  On top of the internal "disinfectant" he was prescribed last week, that should sort that.

Plus raising the slow release morphine dose from the very low starter level.  Hopefully he will be a happier bunny in a couple of days!

He sent a chatty email to some of his family members...on health matters as well as other things. Hopefully that will get the message through that he is on palliative care...but still being positive and doing what he likes to do.

One especially has been rather dismissive...which hurts him.

Onwards and upwards...night all!! xx

Family can be a peculiar country... All those fresh veges and home-cooked food with the added seasoning of Love can only be soothing! YAM xx

One hopes that Pirate is well looked after on this journey.

People do not understand. Tim's children have not visited or called. I know that hurts him. I text them updates on what's going on, just as I send updates to my own. I just don't understand that.

sounds like a wonderful soup! Hope Pirate is on the mend quickly and they get things sorted out. Poor guy!

I do not understand either Debbie.
One we visited because coming to see us wasn't possible, although they have been up here in the past.. However the others expect us to travel to see them, even now. They would rather jet off on their holidays abroad.
I understand why my family rarely come up here...their finances and work and personal circumstances make it difficult.

It's a good job that The Pirate has got you by his side to steer the ship when the sea gets rough. "Avast there me hearties!"

Do you think they are in denial? It is to be hoped they are not just being selfish.

gz said...

JayCee I think it is both with one. Another has been in denial but the penny is dropping as one might say. The youngest just understands

The soup sounds wonderful, as does the district nurse sorting things for Pirate.
So good to hear Pirate continues being positive and doing what he likes.
Stay safe & well, gz.

I’m sorry to hear some of Pirate’s family is not (yet?) stepping up. I feel like a lot of people don’t know what to do when a close person has terminal illness—maybe they don’t realize how little they have to do to reach out? even “just send a card”, I always say.
Little things mean so much.

Your vegetables are works of art ❤️

Family can be a negative term. Hopefully, Pirate will listen to those of his who can understand and offer support. Damn the other ones.

I'm glad Pirate will hopefully be feeling better. It's frustrating when family members don't respond. I had the same thought as JayCee -- that maybe they're in denial.

You've got alot of great produce there, loving the idea of winter soup.

Best wishes to Pirate in dealing with all this. I think your nice food will help, a good soup is very cheering and warming.

isnt it satisfying to eat your own veg! Even these days many people have a limited understanding of the big C, the treatments, maintenance, changes to lifestyle and are afraid of it so shut down. I hope all Pirates family and friends will make the effort to learn more about what he is experiencing and also support you too. Betty
