After the Solstice

Light on the first morning..

Thunder last night, and after breakfast the rain, hail, gales resumed outside

I have no incentive to go out of the door, even between showers!!

Inspiration is lacking as well

Back to a bit more tidying, in case the Oily One (aka son#1 and eldest offspring) does decide to come up from Wales and stay for a few days!!

The year turns...

Solstice blessings to all...onwards and upwards in hope, meanwhile keeping our heads down safe!

Meanwhile Albion is sounding more like Albania....

dusk in Ayr

On and from the Auld Brig

We shopped...briefly...and posted (hopefully) the lasts cards and presents.

One more day of losing the light..then turn to the sun..not that we'll really notice until February..but knowing it helps!

Winter Solstice

Monday's sunset, at the end of a local 38 mile ride delivering cards to friends.

Then back to work on the drive....or as the Pirate was an aircraft engineer, a runway?!  We're pulling Paddy Overtheroad's leg that this is a relief runway for Prestwick, with his roof as the final lift-off boost.....

Most of the cards have been written and sent by the Pirate...my yearly card list is still packed from last year and I haven't found it!
All the shopping we need has been done and it is batten down the hatches with Storm Barbara on her way by Friday.

Funny, we remember last year escaping over the Minches to the Isle of Lewis just before a storm and squeezing in the return trip between storms at the beginning of 2016...miss going over there, but we have a longer journey to prepare for.

Today's good news? the Pirate had his six monthly phone call fromthe Oncology nurse a day early... tests ok, all clear and getting himself back again.
Relief.

The year turns again and it feels as if things could be improving for us...one plans and hopes....

Year's End and Good News...

I think we'll be glad to see the back of this year..it has been very unsettling and hard work for the both of us. Hopefully the coming move will help solve some problems...
I'm watching the weather forecast closely..at present we have a weather warning in force for wind and rain until tomorrow lunchtime...Tuesday we head North on the Bus!!  Four hundred miles and a ferry....and the forecast is not bad so far...

And The Good News? The Pirate's Hormone Therapy injections have finished!!

Solstice is on Monday, so on Tuesday....
Through the door to the next year...and Hogmanay isn't too far off for those who keep to the calendar...

the Year's Turn

We've had an enjoyable busy few days , between family and friends, as it should be at this time of the year.

The hoped for crisp dry weather has disappeared into gales and rain

Luckily the Pirate's Daughter and family left before the worst set in...and much discussion was over the route....

I'm trying to get all my cards sent...but we've only so much energy and time!

I think I ought to produce cards to sell!!

After another "bash" on card writing we had friends over...with a wire haired terrier name of Charlie.

Other friends called by after lunch and we had a living room full-marvellous !
We had a walk in the woods and an excuse for more talking and coffee and biscuits.
Charlie just preferred his stick....

The Solstice is here, the shortest day has been.  The daylight begins to grow on the fourth of January.

Blessings Be to All, whatever your beliefs.
