From grey to greyer

 Last night to this morning 

As the radio weatherman said.. doing October things in July...

No point going out, even in the car.

Or gardening..it is chilly in the greenhouse.

Housework...meh!!!

Workshop it is then.

Slow progress

 Every day at the moment seems to be a bit of this and a bit of that, never really getting a decent job done satisfactorily.

Saturday mornings we...or rather I..listen to the Out of Doors" programme on Radio Scotland. ( He slept through it, after making us a cup of tea....) That is 6.30-8am.  An interesting programme covering...well, out of doors stuff!!..with the added Mystery Noise, which this week was unsurprisingly a Japanese Macaque monkey. ( One went walkabout a couple of days ago...)

By 9 am I had had enough radio listening...so up to finish making breakfast and put the house to rights...Pirate eventually got up by 10!! 

We needed to see our landlord for some grant application paperwork to be signed. He lives fifteen miles away..and we were there by 12.30...he wasn't there, but his workshop worker was...

We decided to go for lunch at a friend's cafe in the local small town near his village...and caught him on the way back.

Paper signed, we will give that to the surveyor who will look at our lack of roof insulation...saving postage!

The water board were at our neighbours house, clearing the drains for her..they sent the camera down and along from our drain to check...nice and clean, thankfully...and he put the collar back on the drainpipe properly for us as well. 

Then Pirate decided that a good siesta was overdue...and I thought great..I can get on with the Ancestry research...but came to a stop after two minutes.

I need to get information printed as well as downloaded...if the computer crashes terminally, I don't want to lose anything or have to go back through Ancestry pages again to find things.

However the computer and printer are not communicating with each other...

Sometimes I can just go in and print....this time it is "getting printer information"....even though I have okayed the printer on the system.

And what does "print using the system dialogue" mean?

I think I need a resident IT assistant/nanny.....

On other research matters.. isn't it fascinating how handwriting has changed over the centuries, when looking at documents....

One step forward ....

 Pirate hasn't been having a good day today. 

At least he has finished fitting the new bottom bracket on the track bike and my clubmate collected it this evening. It took longer than it would have normally..but if you aren't feeling 100%, that's how it goes. I had the job of being the bike support while he worked....not my thing...I hate standing or sitting and doing nothing but holding something!!

So all the other plans were left. That's ok.  Hopefully our doctor will get back to him as he called by the surgery and left a message.

I looked at Pirate's new phone...and one of his old phones, same make...

The old one is far more ergonomic...just needed a slightly bigger screen....

The new one does, however, have room for two SIM cards....now that would be good when travelling abroad....as Yer Actual (fellow blogger) commented. He has three phones...one a French one as that is needed for doing anything in France!!

Anyone getting spam customers on fleabay? Just when I was getting on ok....at least I didn't sell them anything...and fleabay spotted them at the same time as I did. Reported and blocked.

Snow

 A chilly dawn...just an inch of snow. Not as much as friends north and south of us, so enough to scupper weekend plans.

So much to do indoors and out...not doing much of anything.  When I do try and get on with something it just doesn't turn out right.

Every time we go away I think I'll be fresh and get on with things...just hasn't happened this year, time and time again.     Meh!!!

Frustrating

 Today's harvest for breakfast topping.

Today has been low key. Pirate's treatment can't come soon enough.

I moved much of the furniture around in the living room yesterday and did some final tweaking, before trying to download and print something from ancestry...I should have reacquainted myself properly with it before doing something..ended up a dead end not knowing how to get out....so, turn off and help outside!

We had fixed a heavy plastic sheet to stop a couple of leaks in the workshop roof..this had buckled and lifted a little in the heat and wind. We put some paving slab in sections over the bits that were lifting..that will do until we can get proper help.

One day at a time

 There is a lot going on at the moment and I am feeling frustrated that nothing much is getting done...just small things, when big things need doing.

I must be stressing as remembering what went on yesterday gets crowded out! So I do need to blog every day!!

Anyhow, today was an awful dreich day, grey all day and rain more on than off.

I sat on the sofa most of the day, gradually re-listing more on fleabay...a pain, but at least I have a file with all the descriptions written on paper...as I forgot to archive them on the website, postings taken off are labelled Unsold, and disappear after 90 days. I couldn't access my account from NZ either....

Anyway I had my first sale this year, today!!

Back home again

Pirate with Zola....she is a sweetie!

Now we are back home catching up on all the ordinary jobs..bread and yoghurt making, washing, gardening,. reducing stuff.
Pirate is finding the latter difficult and I find that is stretching my patience at times! Trouble is that his stuff is blocking access to my stack of things to be sorted!

The laptop is now showing signs of impending doom..and I haven't had a chance to find out what's the matter with the camera yet..
It would be lovely to be able just to get things good enough to rely on, without a second thought..

Grumble over..I must get on with re-stocking my Etsy shop and working on some new prints!

inertia

I have so many things I should be doing...adding content to the website, selling on Etsy and Ebay, researching family history...I haven't read a book in ages..plus all the household things like preserving...

With a throat spray and nasal spray the health problems are subsiding. It doesn't answer what triggers it each time,but at least I can sleep better and that improves everything! I just musn't squander energy doing a mad catchup when I get more!!

Perhaps a list might help? At least that would stop it all hamsterwheeling round in my brain!

1. Work out how I build the flue on the kiln and mend the bricks and arch of said kiln.    Measurements and photographs have been made and taken and diagrams done of the kiln and shed its in.

2. New garden beds. Needed so that the fruit bushes are in the ground instead of pots.  Needed so that we don't lose more next time we are away for any travelling.

3. Ebay.  Perhaps de-list what is left. No sales for a while . Some vintage things could go on Etsy...which would be cheaper...

4. Etsy.  list some pots. list the bigger print.

5.Printing.   Organize the last batch of small prints for sale.   Print some more of the A4 print thats waiting.   Finish the latest bigger block..thats nearly done but its not quite right yet.

6.Study.  Its disorganized. But its also the room visitors stay in on an airbed or fold up single bed...tidying it for them means stacking things away....

7. Exercise.  Needed daily. Needs time. see 8

8.Organization.  Lacking.

9. Car..needs mending..hopefully done this week coming ...but its taking money needed for travel tickets,to keep it legal....why couldn't it have waited a couple of months,then it wouldn't have needed to be dealt with until next spring.

10. Website. needs expanding...I need to feel brave enough to do it.

11. Artist Statement for gallery/exhibition. See 10.

I could go on...

I've got things and life far better than many. I'm not pitying myself atall,I'm annoyed with myself.
