Snow

A chilly dawn...just an inch of snow. Not as much as friends north and south of us, so enough to scupper weekend plans.

So much to do indoors and out...not doing much of anything.  When I do try and get on with something it just doesn't turn out right.

Every time we go away I think I'll be fresh and get on with things...just hasn't happened this year, time and time again.     Meh!!!

Snowy walk

There is still some snow lying, and underfoot it ranges from icy solid to flaggy mud..but it was enjoyable.. although a bit long.. two hours! We caught the break in the weather and it restarted snowing as we arrived home for lunch.

It has continued showering all afternoon, alternating wet sleet with big fluffy flakes..but it doesn't appear to be sticking.

This afternoon's job was researching bike bits and their value, as pirate cleaned the next ones...I will list them tomorrow.

And joy of joys I had sale on Etsy! A small saltglaze footed cup for whisky and a wee jug for water...both saltglaze.  All packed up and ready to go.

Snow day

This was 8am. . Four hours later..

Heavy rain cleared much of the snow by the afternoon.

Today I didn't step outdoors once, even when pirate went for a walk late afternoon. The thought of cold and wet and slidy....nah!!

Fruit cake got baked, Nigel Slater's small fruit cake recipe doubled up...pictures tomorrow!

I used the light to photograph a chainset..but as the chainrings are good but not matching makes we will sell them separately. More photowork tomorrow!

One sale came in and we were glad to see his one, as it was the first thing that went on sale three months ago!!

April Fool's Weather

Above, the Bens to the North, below, the hills to the South...we have small flakes in the air and the wind is cuttingly cold.
Good, further North, for ski-ers and snowboarders and local jobs...

I need exercise, but I'm wary of getting out on the bike alone..walkies it has to be then.

Spring/Winter/Spring.....

Coltsfoot flowers in a gravel drive
and snow still lying from a few weeks ago
blue sky ,fluffy white clouds and dark grey clouds
starlings crowding along the lines...writing music dots in the sky....
 dry snow blowing across
 like little white pellets..
and now The pirate has gone out on his bike in the sun!!

If we are to get heavy snow in the next day or three, we must take advantage of what we get.

Me? I'm indoors with inflamed sinuses, snuffling and coughing...even visited the doctor,a rarity for me. I have been given a nasal spray AND antibiotics as I very rarely have them.  After a week of this I need a break....

icy day expedition.

The Amber alert has been reduced to Yellow, some of the snow has gone but it is bitterly cold.
We decided not to go to town yesterday, so went this morning...by bus.  The frozen slush in our village was slippery and where it had been cleared off it was icy!  The 400 foot altitude difference between home and Ayr was evident...no gloves needed in Ayr and almost no hat needed either!

Even in the bus you could feel it getting colder as we travelled home.

After a quick lunch ,time for today's walk...

Goat Fell on Arran is completely snow covered
 Tonight's snow on the way?
Back to watch the penultimate stage of the Tour Down Under on television, looking at the parched countryside and vineyards...and thinking of friends there.

Now I'm off to a warm studio for some printing....

more snow....

11pm last night, with  the eerie light, probably light from houses and street lights reflected back down from the low clouds.

Still there this morning...

still icy...

Views of Drongan from the bus.

No extra snow last night...just -9 C....today's trip to Ayr was on the bus..avoiding silly driving and parking.
We went to Mauchline as well, and it was lovely and warm on the bus!!
