The end of the Lang Mile

Continued....the end of the Lang Scots Mile is by the Citadels... Oliver Cromwell's construction...and the sports centre with swimming pool built by it on the site of the old fishmarket on the southern quayside of the river Ayr.

Ayr is still a working port and harbour, to boats. Not all commercial

Then looking at towers from there into the town centre..

Topped by the obligatory gull!

Walking a Lang Way

I had a sale!! At last...another bus journey to Ayr to post it...and another new bus journey...on the bus that heads out towards what was Butlins holiday camp...and is still a holiday camp...I got off the bus just before the bridge over the river Doon..the second bridge down from the one in the poem "Tam o'Shanter"...down to the coastal path...

The pole is the marker for the national cycle route, in this case NCR7.

There were blackberries.! Looking ripe and juicy but still quite sharp, needing more sunshine...as do the apples on the tree that we have foraged from every year.

As I went further north the clouds began to hide Arran.

And I reached the beginning of the Lang Scots Mile...

It got much busier..just a couple of weeks school summer holidays to go...and the ice cream stand and playground were busy as was the beach!... mainly for running around!!

The path cuts between new flats and skirts the walls of the old Citadel...and the newer one..a sports centre...
To be continued tomorrow..it is getting late and blogger doesn't want any more photos....

First frost

For the first time this year the car was well frosted..just when we needed to be on time for pirate's dentist appointment!!

Then we took a doll's House to a charity shop , indulged in a cuppa and cookie in our favourite bookshop cafe, before collecting my work from the Gallery in Ayr high street. Next week the space will be beds and bedding!

There is a possibility of another exhibition before christmas, and hopefully we can get the group of artists involved in this one.

Then a walk on the Lang Scots Mile with some foraging for rosehips..there are plenty of Rosa Rugosa growing on the dunes and they are easy to use to make cordial

This afternoon I cleared away the pea haulms and prepared the bed ready for the onion sets that we bought on the way home.

After this morning's frost the sun was beautifully warm and brought out a butterfly to sun itself on the shed.
