A busy few days, out on the bike nearly every day, seeing different groups of friends.
The patchwork table runner progresses...today Pirate rode back from Hunterville with friends who had ridden out.. starting at 6am, far too early for us! I took the patchwork and sewed a little each time I stopped to wait for them to pass.
We are still getting dust, haze, smoke from Australia..the fires still burn...an area as wide as Europe or the USA...words cannot describe it.

disaster
Four years after the library there (and much final show work) went up in flames, fire has returned to the Glasgow School of Art, just a year before it was to re-open.
It sounds worse this time, with water being pumped from the river Clyde to get enough pressure, and spreading to the old ABC cinema next door.
You feel unbelievably sad, for the artists and students' work there, for the builders and craftsmens' work in re-building and restoration.
As far as is known, no person has been hurt, which is a blessing...but...

walk while waiting
We went to a bike shop in the Clachan of Campsie..the wheelbuilder is slow but thorough...so we went for a walk up the valley behind the shop, aftter lunch in the cafe in the hamlet
The Campsie Fells, crossed by The Crow Road
we couldn't go very far up the valley, because of rockfalls and wind damage...this was a 70 foot beech tree....
wonder if she said yes......
we followed a path further up the hill instead,so....
We saw a fire..and later found that it was the roof of a primary school in Airdrie, where they were using a blowtorch to put felt on a flat roof...normal practice....
back in the shop we met a pup....spaniel, cross lab, cross poodle.....name of Jack.
and we came home from Wheelcraft with a well crafted wheel for road training on a track bike. Super strong, built with tandem spokes
