A very different day...in a different direction

 Up at 5am...off by 6am....we headed towards the Kingdom of Fife to help at a race....that because if last night's heavy rain was cancelled because of flooding.

So what do we do with nothing special to do, 120 miles from home?

Be tourists for a change, have time out!!

Earlie..then along the coast to St Andrews...

Then back to Culross...where we missed the last entry to the bishop's palace by 5 minutes....next visit, hopefully!!

Afternoon out

 After the wake in Kirkcaldy, we had an afternoon out with a friend. 

We had driven to his house then onwards in his car as he knew the roads.

As we were near the sea, the day involved beer(alcohol free as he was driving!) Ice cream AND a fish supper for them ( chips and mushy peas for me). Not forgetting the mayonnaise!!

We stopped in Burnt Island...and found that the lime kilns on a promontary had given it that name....and that the green where the fairs and Highland games were held was given to the burgh by king James V in the 1500s.

And a mini wind turbine generator..also has a solar panel!

It was good to be able to see the sights of the Fife Coast as a passenger for a change!

Culross Walk

After a session on the velodrome for Pirate, we headed further to the Kingdom of Fife to see a friend and go for a walk...a definite better choice than heading into Glasgow rush hour traffic!
We found a source of plums hopefully next year, damsons and small green gage plums as well.
As the choice when going to the sea...well, the Firth of Forth!....is ice cream or beer...and the shops had just shut....they had a pint of beer each in the last public house left in Culross!
