Moth! And a steady day

Another pretty moth that got disturbed..it should look a bit darker gingery brown..it was sitting on black plastic....so you get the idea.

Today I listed more items on fleabay..and sold a vintage saddle almost straight away!

Luckily I checked before going into town so I could pack it and go!

First stop was to take some plants to our friend who looked after our tender houseplants over winter. It was good to have a good old natter, and just her and me and no Pirate there for a change!

Then parcel posting and paying money into my savings account....all the change I get apart from £1 and £2 coins goes into a money box until there is enough to pay in...you can't just pay in any amount now. The set amounts can be weighed in seconds..so that makes sense for the bank.

Back to the garden centre on the way home. I looked at the water butts.....£60...no way!!

But a plus to balance that...they have a Waitrose deli in the garden centre...I found two boxes of eggs, three vege pizzas and a litre of milk....all nicely reduced. Then an impulse buy by the till...something that most of our friends had in NZ, a fly repellant...simply two soft plastic blades which spin and deter flies from landing. Not only does it do that well, it manages to move the air a little...just enough...to make sitting indoors a little more comfortable.

While I was out, Pirate mowed the grass where we do mow it...not all at once, he is getting sensible in his old age!!  I was glad that we could put most of the cut grass on the compost heap, the rest which has Mare's Tail in it went in our green waste bin which gets collected on Friday with the recycling collections.

I think with the discomfort of his symptoms, Pirate may just be inching towards choosing to have the Big Op....it is a hard choice, and only he can make it. However he is due to discuss matters again before too long..so we shall see.  He wants my birthday over...and his younger daughter's in October. I hope that leaving decisions that long won't be too long.

If they do scan him again to see how Charlie the Tumour is growing...that will give him an idea of what and when....

plant i.d. ???

This plant looks as if it may be parasitic on the roots of the shrub, whether on dead or live matter.

slow progress

Take one pallet....(viewed from the workshop)deconstruct...and construct...
deep bed number three...being filled as I write..
The "new" doors have been undercoated, but the weather isn't suited for fast drying. Work has been done today in shifts between showers of snow pellets with sunshine in between!
Yesterday's bargain...I thought I'd bought a twin stemmed Bay Tree...turned out it was two in the same pot!...with some judicious pruning there are also five cuttings and some bay leaves for the kitchen...a real bargain!...especially as it was bought in a 20% off sale and came with a decent pair of gardening gloves free....

American Skunk Cabbage

Thats the one, thanks both..and seeing as Culzean Castle was Eisenhower's HQ during the second world war in the 1940s....not surprising that it is there!

Culzean Castle...and Kiwi Woofer

We had a wander around the grounds of Culzean Castle....and blogger has uploaded all the photos in a random manner!!
The first two show what our local breezes get up to with the trees.

Next I'd like an ID for these, growing in the shallow end of the lake..any suggestions?
The pagoda, once a monkey house
Gateway to the courtyard where one finds a shop, a cafe, and......
 PIRATES!!!!!
"Would you trust your daughter with this man?" asked the Pirate...Well yes,I would, if I had an available daughter....and she would be happy and well cared for!!      Thanks for the visit,Sheldon!

 Them again!

Views of the stable courtyard.

Today we assisted our Kiwi woofer on his way by car, via a bike shop.
He had thought he could ride nearly 220 miles to Aberdeen in a day and a half, with large panniers.....
A new gear cassette was purchased to give him lower gears in his summer riding across Europe.
We drove over the Campsie Fells and had lunch in Crieff before delivering him to Perth where he had booked an overnight stay via a website for cycle tourists.
You pay with your company and talking with your host cyclists.

We left him sitting on the lawn and the car felt rather empty....we'll miss him, but might catch up with him in a couple of months after his working stay on an organic veggie farm on the Shetland Isles. Lets hope he catches tomorrow afternoon's ferry!

If not then, we'll have a lot of catching up to do in New Zealand in 2017!!!!
