Afternoon out

We had lunch in the community centre in the village before Ness/Nis at the top end of Lewis

The crofting year
Emigration

Then on to visit a potter further South...we already have a small vase of hers at home...and south again to see her new work in an exhibition at another school turned community centre and café..and have tea and scones!

Then home again for a rest, before going to our friends for supper

Loved the pottery/sculptures. So sad about the emigration. Do you think they were mainly younger people? That's the way it is around here, no jobs for young people so they go somewhere else, so our waitstaff in restaurants are thin...meaning few, not thin people!

Those brown-and-white earthenware(?) pots brought back memories. I recall seeing them in my home as a wee lad and also in home of relatives. Can't recall what they were used for . . I know none of us were "moonshiners". 😁

It looks positively sunny in your photos! Babet must be past you, I guess?

I love that pottery piece with the maple seeds pressed into the clay.

Barb, folk of all ages.
Steve it has rained constantly, with varying intensity, for two days...they have renewed the red warning for Northeast Scotland until midnight...but the damage will still be ongoing with the water coming down from the uplands

Some very beautiful pots. I love the tall one - the final one you photographed - which in the window reminded me of one of the standing stones.
