what a change!

A beautiful day today...still a little touch of chill in the breeze this morning, but then it myst have been 10 degrees or so warmer by this afternoon!!

Shallots were planted in pots in the greenhouse, a small bed weeded....aand lunch was al fresco on the garden bench!

The Daisies were blooming in the grass....first time this year..it must really. be spring!!

Oops....not sure what I've done!!!

I took my car down the hill first thing for its annual MoT test of fitness ...and it passed well. I'd only done a little over 6,000 miles since last year, so I went to the NFU Mutual office at the mart to sort the insurance.

I was in the up to 20k miles bracket...so brought it down to 8k to give me some leeway...and saved £28 per year...not a lot, but every little helps.

As it was near I went to the garden centre for my "free" hot drink...as a member...which has just risen to £15 p.a....you get two free drinks a month.  Which made sense when we did call by often....and 10% off plants and seeds looks good until you see the prices!

So I went to the family garden centre near home and got 4 bags of topsoil and a bag of potting grit. Not something you can do without a car!!

A funny note...no plum tomatoes..seeds or plants!!

As it was still warm and dry and I have a tub of fence paint...the outside of the back fence was painted....exercise and fresh air!!

Those unexpected warm Spring days do wonders for the mind body and soul don’t they

Phenomenally busy day it seems. Fence painting is satisfying. Saving on insurance is a couple of nice morning teas out somewhere. and yes - those garden centre prices can really sting. Seed swaps are good groups to find. I filch shrub seedlings off my Bro - developing a small plant nursery.

You do get a lot done in a day.

It was glorious yesterday, I also spent it gardening and being outside, eating lunch in the garden until youngest rang for help with his landie so we had down tools and trundle off. So from gardener to mechanic's mate in one day haha, at least it was all outside and it was still warm and dry.

I'm glad spring has arrived for you as well! And look at you, plunging straight into painting a fence. I need to get some more dirt as well, for when I bring out the dahlias within the next few days.

Spring and warmer weather inspires lots of work outside and in the greenhouse. You are well prepared for the growing season.
All is well with the car with insurance cost reduced and a successful MOT. A good day!

Oh, truly the upside of abysmal weather HAS to be the joy of the good days - and it does appear to have been one of those. How lovely.

you'll have to learn to stop calling it "dirt" Steve 😄 it is earth....or soil. Which is interesting as there are parallels with "dirty" and "soiled"
Now where do those words originate?! I know that sol is ground ,in French...

That's good you get free drinks at the garden centre. I must find out if the mitre 10 cafe does that too as I have their coffee card.

A very good and busy day! There is always so much to do in the spring, seems like the to-do list gets longer the more we do. But isn't it lovely?

I think they only do after so many stamps on the card
