trip to Bruce's Monument

This is above Loch Trool. Then we beat a hasty retreat from the midgies to the visitor centre cafe at Glen Trool!
The bridge over to the cafe was damaged in the December floods...still not mended...

This looks like the culprit, or rather one of many blocking the water from going through the archway.

and for Yer Actual....a 1200 engined E reg Triumph Herald...

How wonderful to see a Triumph Herald 1200 again we had A Herald 1200 S, years ago it had twin carbs that had to be finely balanced, otherwise fuel consumption would go through the roof ! Marvellous vehicle though with a tight turning circle and very sporty.
Thank you for reviving my memories.

Was last at Glen Trool before the storms - that bridge has been hammered. Yes we have also retreated from clouds of midgies but equally had one glorious afternoon of midgie free time sitting at their benches watching the river. Love it there.

Hi Gwynneth, Well remember those little Heralds, amazing turning circle a bit like Hackney Cabs. Good, strong basic engines, too. I know a Brit in this region who also has one he brought over when he moved here and has owned for about 40 years! Glen Trool is pretty, remember it well, though often with a bit more pouring rain, as I recall!
