weekend away

We were awarded some certificates from British Cycling last weekend, for our achievements in the World Masters Games last April in New Zealand.

You only get this if you go to collect them....but you do get a free dinner ticket!!

It was testing weather to drive to and from Birmingham, spray, sleet showers..and the 100% prats driving at 80 mph without lights.....

Still,we had a good weekend away and stayed with friends on the way home.

Monday morning we awoke to snow by the Solway Firth!

A careful drive saw us to clear roads in Castle Douglas, where our usual coffee stop cafe was open..but the gallery and secondhand bookshop opposite this mural were closed.
 Next stop Carsphairn...

and then another twenty miles home past snowy fields.

Congratulations!
What a funny contrast between the bright game-show colors of the awards ceremony and the subdued ones out in the world---both beautiful in their own ways.
Beautiful dress too--you look great!

Congratulations on your achievements - and you've been all the way over here in l'il ole NZ!! It sounds like it was worth the drive to receive your awards. And how pretty the countryside looks covered in snow...gorgeous photos.
