Home to Whanganui

We survived an extremely windy night at Martinborough..with acorns rattling down from a tree on the campercar roof!!
Morning coffee in Masterton....
Then a diversion in Pahiatua as the Manawatu gorge road to Palmerston North was still closed, and we found ourselves on the road that the 7 day Wellington to Auckland tour used to follow. A nice change from SH2.
After Palmerston it was back on a state highway, 3 this time, and battling the wind to hold a steady line..not as much as the 1917 car we passed just before Turakina .....but he was still doing a respectable 50kph before pulling off for a respite from the wind!!
This is the vintage weekend in Whanganui, four days of fun!! (It's Wellington day on Monday so a public holiday)
We arrived in the Mud Duck cafe at the I site, the same man served us as when we first arrived two years ago...and just like then he remembered us!!
Then a wander around the River City to ease our legs before heading up to Aramoho to the campsite.

beautiful vehicles, what a fantastic journey you are on. Sorry I don't comment much but I do visit often and drop a pebble ((o))... happy travelling.

Glad to see all these great old vehicles. Isn't that wonderful that you were remembered by that man! Hope you sleep better tonight, which may already be happening actually! I'm hoping to see the eclipse of moon tonight. But it's cloudy now and snowy.
