Weather, gardening and housework!

ladybird/bug...soon to be busy eating aphids!

I photographed the fruit bushes yesterday

I hope I can beat the birds to more of them this year!!

I did get the first strawberries!

After a night of 50mph wind gusts . It had subsided to only..!..40mph ones !! No walk or cycle today...I wouldn't feel safe out in that.

It is a cold wind still.  So I took it out on the house ....Bread and yoghurt made, kitchen and bathroom floors steam cleaned. And the shower cubicle too. Carpets vacuumed downstairs.  Bikes and wheels reorganised in the spare bedroom.

Gardening was in the greenhouse before supper, when the wind had eased a little.

I sowed more seeds....radish and mooli...and potted on a couple of plants. Litre plant pots were sunk in the earth by every tomato plant, where they will be watered.

Then more sewing while watching videos of canal restoration... fascinating!

A different sunset tonight...

We had strong winds as well. Thankfully it only lasted about half an hour.
These kind of days just yell, stay inside the get things done.
I envy you your green house. I really would love one here.
One day

Your lady bird bug looks entirely different from our aphid eating ladybugs...red with black spots. (and there's a mimic of one which has more spots but is invasive.)

Your strawberries look delish! We just had some tasty ones, too, but ours came from the supermarket.

Gooseberries (my favorite) - seems only yesterday I was stuffing my face with them here. Sounds like the house will be wishing for more clement weather and to be left in peace!

Bread made here this morning as well and yoghurt will be overnight. You get a lot done.

Busy, busy, busy.
The first strawberries from the garden are always such a long awaited treat.

There are quite a few red/ black and yellow/black variations. I wonder if it is due to what vegetation is prevalent? Or rather on what predators are about as the colouring says Poisonous! It is the Harlequin ladybird I don't want as that apparently predates on other ladybirds

Definitely!!

Your gooseberries are looking good. Ours just died! Strawberries, too - yours are much further advanced than ours - depends on the variety, I suppose..

You've got lots of fresh berries growing. My pear trees are full of tiny fruit and in a few weeks, I'll have to protect the fruit. Otherwise, the wildlife will eat all the fruit.

so what is mooli? Sounds very productive.

We have lady bugs that bite. They also smell when smooshed.

Like a large white long rooted radish. Quite hot!

These are the alpine strawberries and are well established ground cover
