I allowed half an hour extra on the first leg of yesterday's travelling....no jams, so I arrived in Y Fenni (Abergavenny) half an hour before my friend!!
We had a great catch-up...a walk around the town as the rain started. Called in to see the Frogmore Street Gallery, run by the Black Mountain Circle. I used to be a member until I moved to Scotland, before they moved into the town.
Then to choose a place for lunch..there is so much choice! We went for the Portico Lounge! Good food catering for all sorts..and proper coffee! I had a Shukshaka and a Long Black..We talked and talked...then walked through the indoor market..
..and I left the town just after 1pm!!
With the choice of dual carriageway/motorway for over 70 miles to Caerfyrddin (Carmarthen)...or the A40...five miles shorter and through lovely countryside..I chose the A40... although at one point before Llanwrda, where the normal river route is quite near the road...it was over the road...but passable with sensible driving.
The valleys were well flooded and the rain kept coming down...in one village two fire engines were pumping water out of a house and a pub, each side of the road by a bridge .
Decision made at Narberth... keep on the main road until a turning right miles from here...which is on the end of the Preseli Mountains...down the quarter mile of farm track....to a good fire and welcome.
And John....there are two of them!!
