Much needed

It rained gently last night..and tonight it is raining steadily..after 35 dry days.

This is the River Ayr at Ayr , yesterday.

The lowest I've ever seen it....and not because of the state of the tide...

I didn't do much today...got up late as I stayed nice and warm wrapped in the duvet..finished the backs of the print cards then packed them individually.

It has been grey and cold with intermittent showers...now it is steady rain..and I hear the sound of waterbutts filling!

I tidied the greenhouse a little...the plants in pots aren't quite ready to move into a bigger one yet. The tomato plants I planted yesterday are looking ok.

I put the bread machine on for a loaf and it didn't quite turn out as expected.

And the paddle got stuck in the bottom.

It tastes good though. Probably needs a pack of yeast that isn't quite so old?!

I am glad that you have finally gotten rain. Our creek is twice its normal, and it is still raining. Looks like we have a dry day scheduled next Tuesday.

Regardless, the bread looks tasty! My mouth is watering.

Good that you have rain. I threw out the last of a jar of yeast yesterday and opened a new one. I don't like waste but sometimes it is for the best :)

I bought a bread maker years ago. They were all the rage.
I think I got three lumps of cooked dough out of it.
I then gave it away and started making my breqd the old fashioned way
It wasn’t hard at all. I usually left it to prove for longer than they normally would, it got tended too inbetween other jobs.
Then it would go into the oven before I went to pick up the kids from school
Waking in the smell was Devine
I had to make two loads at a time, because the kids would devour one as soon as it came out of the oven lol

I had been successful getting decent loaves...and I don't bake enough to include bread in a batch. So bread maker it is

We had a brief shower of rain but now just very, very windy.
Not so good for the TT fans arriving at the campsites.

I'd eat just about any bread. Haven't made any in years, but kept some yeast packets in the fridge...since COVID struck, so it's good to think of using 2 packs instead of one for these old ones...and I think I'll test to make sure some yeasties are still alive first.

We had rain yesterday and we're getting more tomorrow -- and I'm glad!

The river looks desperate for rain.
Homemade bread is delicious, regardless of the size and shape.
Can you recommend a bread making machine?

So long as it tastes good!

This bread baker is just one I picked up on a local neighborhood website...quite a top model for its time, but that was a while ago!
If I was looking for a new one I'd go for one that would cope with sourdough, or at least not a too basic model....this one will deal with dough mixing and proving before baking in a conventional oven..and it will also bake cakes...but it depends what you want it to do!

I need to make bread again. It's been too long.
I imagine that 35 days without rain is almost unheard of in your area! What pleasurevtonlisten to it now.

Oh that bread (even if not showcase standard) has made me wish I could bake bread in my caravan. Maybe when I get the cabin fitted out I will add an electric frypan and bake a form of bread in that - if only for that warm yeasty smell.
