From a tree just over the road...not by a house, on the verge by the telephone exchange! It looks very much like one grown from a discarded apple core. It is a late season bloomer, so missed early cold then dry weather...and the cold and wet..
Last year's crop was mediocre...this year it is covered!! They are ready to pick before being ripe, and ripen slowly very nicely after picking...they also will keep until early spring..I held a few back on a windowsill a couple of years ago.
Now I need to check the other trees to see how they are faring!!
This afternoon's work was throwing glaze test bowls. I threw them off the hump for a change and was pleasantly pleased..I haven't used that technique for a very long time indeed!!
Then after a late lunch, the latest batch of cards needed finishing and packing.
A quick supper, and watching a programme about the River Derwent...while sewing!!

Nice haul!
I had to go and research throwing off the hump. Turns out to be what I had imagined. That's a lot of bowls - I'm eager to see your test glazes. Nice supply of apples - I have yet to find a local 'feral' tree that might oblige next autumn.

You are very fortunate to have fruit trees, There's nothing like fruit right off the tree.

Those apples look great and so many of them just waiting to be picked. Lucky you. A tree filled with fruit in Massachusetts, US would be attacked by deer and raccoons. All the fruit would be taken.

Yes Steve, they aren't really quality enough for use in cooking, let alone eating fresh, although when ripened they do taste nice. So juice they will be.

That's a great haul of apples. I am sure you have plenty of bottles for the juice. Even my little young orchard has a good number of apples this year - down to the good spring.
