Back home...no photos today!!
I missed the way on to the Expressway by Llaneurgain (Northop in English!!)
So had a gentle start on old roads that I'd ridden and driven on at the end of the 70s...and topped up the fuel before getting on the big roads. Starting at a bit after 9.30 am was a good idea. The traffic was busy but flowing.
Not at all stressful and an easy drive right to Tebay for my lunch stop and leg stretch. Also good dry weather all the way....until we approached the border...
Then I found that the screen wash had run out...so leaving the motorway and all the spray was preferable!! And the rain stopped. Thankfully!
A stop in Dumfries where a friend had offered a break...soup roll and a cuppa set me up for the last 55 miles. I think he needed the company ,as he works mainly from home, and his father died not long ago. It gave him a break too.
Then a quick stop for essentials from the Co-op in Thornhill. From there to home is always an hour! 38 miles through the dusk with a bright pink sky and grey clouds...and arriving at 5.15 as it settled into night.
I think that everything is in from the car...the clothes washing ready, but that won't get done tomorrow as heavy rain is forecast. Cleaning the car out properly will have to wait as well.
A good thing I came back today!!

Welcome home. Glad you are back safe and sound before the horrible weather arrives.
Sounds ike you really had a good run. Except for the rain
As I get older my anxieties surrounding driving get worse.
Driving on unfamiliar roads
Driving in the rain and driving in the dark
It was lovely you had time for a stop and something to eat at your friends home. It’s always nice to break u the long drive and yes check on your friends as well
