I read about clearing energy pathways in the house, ready for Chinese New Year..the Fire Horse on the 17th of this month I think.
Daughter said it was just common sense!
Whichever way you look at it, it feels better.
I've done the hallway and stairs..
shoeracks and linenbasket will stay...
As it was cold wet and windy out there...Baltic in other words...this was good exercise!!
the wheel in the Saltire bag is on its way out, the bag of sprockets and chainrings need to be taken to the track again, hopefully to sell.
bedroom, living room and kitchen are inching towards improvement.
study and sewing/bike room have had bike stuff returned to them for now...but they are still usable rooms.
Then I put my feet up.....and researched basic hotel prices....
13 nights in a budget Ibis hotel in Limoges...£530 or so... a little discount for longer stay and a little more for being a member...which cost me nothing. Not the one I wanted right near the station....but only 5km out...a decent walk...and there are buses.
Then I looked at one night near Edinburgh airport on the way home....from £160 upwards....and not the nearest....so I went for the second nearest...a five minute bus ride...good old Travelodge...and even that was £122. Monday is an expensive day....
I'm booking direct with each hotel group...far better than the various booking sites..which take a considerable percentage and are not the easiest to work with when you run a hotel.
Landing back after 9pm means that the furthest I could get by bus at that time of night would be Glasgow....
I think that is all I need to organise now...apart from my bag!!
Adding the expenses up it feels a lot in a way..but then I look at what I could have easily paid without being careful....and it is for two weeks. I know how to be frugal too...and the emphasis will be on photography, drawing, relaxing....and a lot of walking!!

...this can be a long process.
Travel is expensive, there's no two ways about it.
yes..but I read a comparison in an article in The Connexion regarding rail fares in France and the resistance to raising them. Railways in Europe are on the whole surviving. In some areas people are fighting to keep or restore their local lines.
But railways are well used because people can afford to. In Britain comparable journeys cost 100-200% more.
I can remember, when I first arrived in the uk - overhearing Australians complaining that Britain was so much more expensive compared to Europe, we were all queuing to go into some exhibition or other. A year or two later, when travelling around France I could see what they meant - everything was so much cheaper and if I'm honest mostly better value for money than the uk.
Your hall and stairs look beautiful. Light and airy is always refreshing and energy levels are improved.
Your trip is well planned and your research on costs will benefit your bank account.
Nice! Clearing space for light!
(Where’s Pirate’s toy bear, btw?)
Excellent 🇫🇷 travel plans ❤️
I put pictures of The Bear on the 28 January blogpost...Bear now keeps the Mermaid company on my bedroom bookcase, by my bed ❤️
I think you deserve this time away. Everyone says I’m too tight with money, but I know that if I can save on things I need, I’ll be able to get a few things I want. And to me that’s worth the penny pinching Enjoy I say
Your tidy-up looks so nice. I need to look at my house that way.
Your trip planning is making me jealous! It is so long since we went anywhere more than 7 hours away, driving hours that is.
Life has to balance, I think. You have to allow yourself a little frivolity. I hope to be returning to the UK this summer, but my daughter will be starting a new job. She will need to focus on that. Perhaps next spring. I envy you your adventure.
After all the work you have been doing with clearing out. You deserve a good holiday just doing what you enjoy! I keep saying I will have to de clutter,I have got some things to the charity shop. But still need to do a lot more!
Oh, I’m glad I asked—I’d missed that post (had been on a brief hiatus),
and Bear is not to be missed—truly a most adorable Bear!!!!
With a plucky sweater made of love.
The mermaid looks to be good company—a powerful duo 😄
😊 thank you!
Reading this reminded me that I still had to get in touch with our hotel in Malaga to forward our identity documents -- so thanks for that. The logistics of travel can be tiring! (Not to mention the cost, but it sounds like you're managing that pretty well.)
that is interesting...I haven't been requested to do that
I could do with clearing some of the energy blockages in my house. It’s difficult with such a busy home but could do with making the effort. We're going to York soon as we do and always go by train. It is expensive but still better value than parking charges + fuel etc.
