more painting

not much but painting...and ofcourse it looks worse before it gets better...all the stuff on the surfaces cleared now needs sorting.

I did find something special when moving a set of shelves...that Pirate had set on the shelves for a special occasion ...

it may be old...but Whittakers still tastes good!!

I think that New Year and wall painting are definitely occasions to celebrate.

The wall to the other side of the chimney breast has had one coat...apart from the last half metre that I can't reach without moving a LOT of things including the tv....

The paint is good with two coats. I chose matt emulsion on purpose so that it would be a backdrop for whatever goes on the wall.  It seems to give more of a depth than a Shiny wall would.

...there are a number of things that I dislike and painting is one of them.

Wow! The newly painted wall looks terrific. Did you use a roller to do the job?

Tom might have a point - I don't mind painting in an empty room but working around stuff (varnishing the ceilings in our furnished cabin) is a real pain in the rear. Good strong colour you chose there.

The problem/s with painting walls - I get over excited about choosing the colour, purchasing it, making sure enough paintbrushes etc and imagining how good it will all look... then ... the prep, the clearing away, the moving of furniture, the cutting in, the masking off, the stepping back and realising that it is going to need several coats or I don't actually like the colour or as it dries it looks different.... then the putting everything back and the grumbling at 'who on earth thought it was a good idea in the first place!!'

Also... what I meant to say before I ended up going off on a rant -
it looks really good, you chose well 😊

I’m one of those that do not like painting. It’s the whole getting the prep work done, paint, wait, paint again, and then clear up and move things back
I did do all that, when many moons younger. But I definitely wouldn’t be able to do it now.
Your doing a wonderful job

The colour of the wall looks good, very cosy.

Exactly! but with just the one wall like that...the yellow lightend it...and the dove grey on the bottom half of the walls brings it together. I think that I'd like a mid to dark grey carpet..but that would be too much expense and upheaval!!

I cannot imagine trying to paint walls without a good runway of space between me an stuff - but then, I am not the most tidy of painters and probably need as much runway space as possible. Love the colour and concept behind it - and the little bits of love that you are finding.
