Next time we get warned of impending frosts, I will have to put extra coverings on inside the polytunnel. Tomatoes, beans courgettes and brassicas were all nipped by the frosts

Painting

Yesterday's work got painted this afternoon.
This morning was quiet as two doors up had a funeral..no, not that...she had dementia, and had been smoking herself to death apparently...the only thing she could remember how to do.
Very sad.

It is cold..that frost nipped the edges of many things inside the polytunnel..and yet the sun is hot. The wind is strong and northerly.  And still it is dry.   We have had record wet February.
A record hot and dry April.  May?????

Another day, another shed

Weatherproofing His shed today.
Also tidying the polytunnel.
We had frost last night..even in the polytunnel. Not too much damage, thankfully.
One bit of gardening good news..I saved some seed of several squashes I liked in 2013.  It was a long shot but I planted a few of them at the end of March.
Yesterday Jack Be Little showed a strong pair of leaves...and today Crown Prince looked as if it might be growing.... This is exciting!!

A light gardening day!

Filling a corner with runner beans. I hope last year's bean sticks will work ok.

I wonder if this one and his mates will eat my veges?!
The weather has done another quick change..a shower overnight and really hot during the day.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned cold again tomorrow! I will have to shelter the bean plants, but at least they are in!

Prompt friendly service... can't fault it! We did have to order online but in under two whole days..our ton of topsoil arrived.
This was today's exercise!!
The new vege bed is full, there is topsoil on the second bed in the polytunnel, some to top up the older deep beds, in large pots for the runner beans behind the workshop which faces Southeast...and some to top up one corner of the older vege bed...and a bit left over!!

Plenty of potting up to do tomorrow, and more seed sowing.

It's really beginning to feel like a proper garden.

Inspiration

 I had an idea...then I saw a pallet, and some fencing...

 It was teamwork...

 And soon it was filling

 Or rather, full!

 This was the second sowing of Chard...nothing germinated from the newer seeds so I showed more of the older....I didn't expect this many!! I may have some to swap!!
