a breezy walk

We grabbed the weather window...and went for a walk..just around Hannahston, the local nature reserve.

We were out for an hour and as we returned the wind was rising again and the rain returning.

I certainly hope you had some foul weather gear on. That wind was howling at you to get in by the fire! What are those bright red berries? And what is the decoration around that chair about? Curious minds want to know.

What is the significance of the tree with all the clouties around it, and the canvas chair?

I wouldn't eat the berries...

The clootie bush or rag tree..a very old tradition, both Celtic and Romany interesting to see it carrying on.
Usually near a well and/or hawthorn tree, the rags are tied and the hope is that as the rag degrades the sick person gets better or the wish is fulfilled.
Unfortunately most of the "rags" here are plastic....
