Pirate lit the fire in the drum....made by our host fifty years ago when he was 19 years old...by 3pm....and the meat went on the spit at 4pm. Friends started arriving by 5.30, we did more shopping, others brought salads ready made and one took charge of the kitchen.
It was relaxed and people were sitting around talking for hours until food was served by 8pm or so....in total we were ten, and discussion was lively! A few left after a couple of hours then two more came late after babysitting duties had been done....and more talking and laughing...until they realised they had arranged to go walking in the morning!!
Bed before midnight....just!
Day off tomorrow...it was good working hard to get the place looking good, finishing a job that I'd started last Christmas, and not had time to finish as I'd wanted to. I just hadn't expected to need to finish it in two days!!

What a lovely garden and patio! Glad your barbeque was fun. That's a huge fire pit! Enjoy a day of rest...?
I'd be happy out there, perfect for enjoying a steak sammy.
A beautiful firepit. Enjoy your stay.
That is a righteous-looking piece of equipment! You've a lovely outdoor area as well. Bon appetit!
I see a black cat welcoming you.
That look, in #3, that just seems perfectly NZ. Not that NZ has a strong international stereotype, but if it did, that would be it.
Oh, I agree. What a beautiful area, perfect for entertainment.
