The process wasn't helped by a two hour electricity power cut this morning..but thankfully the gas fire doesn't need electric to run and we have a camping stove.
The drive to Glasgow wasn't the easiest, being buffeted by the wind, then horizontal snow showers, then low visibility with hail and snow for the last five miles....but we are here, warm and dry!
He is taking stock of what he needs to do and possibly change to achieve his aims this season.

I can sympathize about your weather. We had a one-day cold front move through with rain and a teensy bit of hail this evening. Much warmer tomorrow. (I hope!)
Sounds like a very hard drive, glad you are home and dry.
There are advantages in having gas, power cuts in particular.
I would have trouble getting anything done if i had a lovely fire like that to get me cosy. Would want to sit there all day!
Glad you had the means to stay warm! We have a non-working wood burning fireplace that we would like to someday convert to gas logs.
