I have got the Epps line back to the 1600s... apparently the name could be Dutch.
Now for the Possee's history!! There are apparently Huguenot refugees ..hope I may find something.
We have another Kent trip coming up..this will be very useful!!
Rant whilst waiting...now getting on with life

Idid a lot of family history at one time. Wrong spellings abound and are very confusing. My first husband's history was much easier - his name was Rivron - a French name - and his ancestors came over in the Napoleonic war and were imprisoned here. Very easy to trace.

Well, the Epps name is very prevalent in East Kent (where many Hugenots settled). I went to school with an Epps family when young in Mid Kent. One of their sons, in the Parachute Regt., was killed at Arnhem. I worked with Ernie Epps, from a police family, in Canterbury.
Also worked with a Pamela Possee who took over from me as Coordinator of Ashford Mediation Service in 2002.
Avus as far as I have seen so far, Epps is a Dutch name...there are Van Eppses in the USA. But could still be Huguenot as some went to the Nederlands first from France

My brother did a fair bit of research - think he is still delving into the dark and deep history of our family!
He discovered that we had more family than we knew and co-incidentally one of them was doing a similar delve over in Canada and they have been swapping info ever since - fascinating stuff.
I get hopelessly lost when names are handed down from one generation to the next. How many adelberts does one family need?
Good work. It's really fascinating to see what comes up.
