But steady progress. There is so much to do, sometimes I feel like a rabbit caught in headlights....and get nothing done.
Wednesday I went on the bus to town thinking to sort the travel insurance in person as we have done before.... they stopped that after covid.....I ended up having an afternoon on buses....with a leg stretch between each one! Nice to travel around with someone else doing the driving, and with an elevated viewpoint compared to a car!
It was successful though...I managed to locate something special I've been hunting for to give as a present.
I took some more photos of the bridges in Ayr...two foot bridges, two road bridges and two rail bridges...but one of the rail bridges only has the piers now, no trackbed.
And the Carnegie library
Insurance sorted yesterday and campsite booked for May. Now to get the tent from my brother...
Still cloudy and grey today, but good enough to half dry this morning's washing.
This afternoon's job was to start clearing rubbish out of one shed and clean the bike I'll start riding next week..I have been promised a hand with some mechanicing.
And now it has gone dark...at 4.50pm.

No shortage of bridges there then!
Successful errands completed too.
...I hope that your "hand" comes through.
Yup, that’s about when it gets dark here too—you’re a little earlier. I looked it up and Minneapolis is 44° latitude and Ayr, Scotland is 55° latitude.
We aaaaalmost line up (sorta kinda)…😆
Sounds like a successful and enjoyable day. Ayr has lots of bridges; the waterways are quite lovely too.
There's always something to keep us busy. I wouldn't get very far if I had to depend on buses.
A productive day!
It's dark here early too.
Seeing the Carnegie Library made me sad, as it reminded me of our friend, George the Cyclist (if you google him, you'll find his posts; alas, there will be no more, as he died this year). His quest in life, as he crossed the country on his bike and circled the globe was, among other things, to visit as many Carnegie libraries as he could -- and he wrote about every one of them. His posts are better than any travel book about cycling and discovering people along the way. Thanks for bringing him to mind today.
It still surprises me a bit how early darkness falls. Of course, it didn't get dark here until 5:05. What did I do with my extra 15 minutes of daylight. Sadly...not much.
You have to start early enough here...and stay reasonably local. I'm glad I no longer have to commute.
To get to Glasgow is half an hour plus to Ayr then over an hour on the express bus..plus waiting time.
