Friday started with black ice and 200m very gingerly walked to the bus stop...arriving as the bus drew up!! Just over three hours for the three bus ride to the airport in Glasgow (Paisley)
Then breakfast #2 and a long relaxing wait to board. I had wanted to buy a new journal to start writing for the new year...but £20 for a thin "moleskin" covered one or £9 for a Glasgow tourist one....was trying to extract the proverbial!!
The flights were good, the vegan menu much improved.
Now there is only one flight a day from Glasgow there is a nine hour stopover in Dubai. Which after you take out an hour from the plane ...through customs, looking for the right place for the shuttle bus (thankfully only 5 minutes) and getting the bus back to check in in time..gives you 4 hours sleep/rest...as that is GMT+4 I suppose that did bring my body clock into line ! And the sunrise colour sky was breathtaking...the colour of tinned apricots!!
The flight to Auckland was....long!! Nearly 16½ hours, 20 minutes being added as they tracked further south than usual to avoid storms, the first land to be flown over was Tasmania!!
The last hour just stretched me...but we got there ok...and after getting through checks, and a long wait for my bag...it was out to meet a friend...

Welcome to downunder.
A trip out indeed! Have a lovely time xx
Wow, that's a brutally long flight! The longest I've ever been on was 13 hours back to Canada from Seoul, South Korea and that damn near killed me. But how exciting that you are about to start on a fabulous vacation holiday! Have fun!
16.5! That's a mighty long airplane ride. Sounds like the airline gods were good to you, always nice when that happens.
Ooooh. I have been wondering about your adventure. 16 1/2 hour flight...ugh. Can you sleep on a plane? I never could, but then again, I've never flown 16 1/2 hours.
Yikes. That would exhaust even the most seasoned and frequent traveler. And the black ice isn't a fun way to start the day. But there you are! Hooray!
