Gatherings

I checked my work in the Dancing Thistle on the way to French conversation on Friday

It is rather squashed in with other makers...but she has only just moved in to her new premises and hasn't renovated the whole lot yet.

Then the group meeting in an upstairs meeting room in the library..

Most of the French group were there...and a few of the Italian group..and a couple from the German group.....and plenty of food and drink donations!!  And lots of discussion and fun!!

Today I had gallery duty... mainly family groups coming in, so not many sales...but enough to make it worth it.

Then the local cycling club end of season get together.

Pre meal drinks in an old church turned into a pub...very noisy...which didn't make conversation easy.

Then a good meal in the Indian restaurant next door. Still quite noisy...we were a group of 19!! But quite an enjoyable evening, although not really my "thing"...but it was good to have been invited to join them, as I'm not getting out on the bike much, let alone being fit enough to do that!!

That sounds like a very pleasant day of socialising. Happy times.

Outdoor movie has been organized as Xmas socializing in this tiny community. We've had hot dry weather - you can almost guarantee it will rain that evening. The idea of a cosy pub and cold weather has strange appeal right now. It makes xmas lights make sense.

Are outdoor movies...like games of cricket..the equivalent of a rain dance?

Occasional days out to meet with old friends are good..
Most of my socializing these days seems to consist of doc appointments1

That is something that I noticed. Some of these old chuches make beautiful coffee stops, but the acoustics are terrible.

And old church turned into a pub?! Now THAT's an interesting idea.

I prefer smaller groups and proper audible discussions!!

So many possibilities..and often they are lovely buildings and a local feature

Often the only thing needed is to soften or baffle the sound..it isn't as if there is a worry about tobacco smoke or vape chemicals thankfully

This sounds like a really terrific day -- and I love your display. Beautiful things. I like the idea of repurposing the church. I hope you have loads of sales!

You’ve definitely had socialization going on! Here even a phone call counts as socialization, but I don’t think texts go that far.

You've got a lot on offer at the new shop. Holiday shopping is full-on, and your beautifully crafted items must sell well.
Your gatherings with friends make the holiday season joyful.

gz said...

Ah yes, texts do.. because you can consider your reply carefully. And it isn't stressful!

I kind of like the look of different artists’ pieces displayed together – –,though your pottery looks great with a more gallery-like display , in daily life it gets all jumbled up – – your little pots right now are all mixed in in my bookshelves and kitchen table – – very friendly!

Pots are friendly!!

Your pots and cards look attractive in the displays. And thr get-togethers sound fun, although I am with you on the noise. Places like that are not pleasant for me either.

I don't get to socialise much these days. Not since they closed my favourite pub and music venue.
