A nice quiet day. Study tidied. Bedding ready for visitors..who will now all arrive on Sunday... hopefully the Oily One will stay a bit longer than daughter's two nights.....
I get the between the lines feeling that "it's your fault that you moved so far away".... forgetting that she eventually moved three hours drive away from me!!! And that we saw as many of them as we could every time we visited, two or three times a year....and it has never always been convenient to visit...
Was I supposed to pass up a chance of a life of my own....with the love of my life...after almost thirty sixty years of dedicating my life to their father and them...? Hey ho.... families...who'd have 'em?!!!!
It has been nice having message conversations with friends today, from nearby and around Scotland and from New Zealand, and a long phone call from a cousin in London.
Then a beautiful sky at dusk with a crescent moon shining bright.

Ha, family! Sometimes ya can’t win. 🙄😄
Yes, families can be tough on holidays. Don't let them spoil your celebration. Love your sky pic.
Oh those families…..can’t live with them - can’t live without them 😊
Enjoy your time with them when they arrive.
There is a lot unspoken in my family too. I think it would be easier if they talked to me instead of about me. in the end, I can't change what they won't talk about. You had every right to make a life independent of theirs. They were adults.
I forgot to say merry Christmas Gz.
I am all for doing what is best for you.
That said, what is best at one point in time can change as nothing stays the same. That's my experience.
Enjoy your time with family.
My mother laid that guilt on me too after i moved 7 hours away...and yet she moved from England to the US herself after WWII. We all have to live our lives as best we see fit. Wishing you all the best, gz
Video calls make a short disyance out of half a world (or a three hour drive). There is no reason these days not to live the life that best expresses you in the place that best suits it. Have a warm and relaxed festive season.
They do so...but factor in Neuro Divergence. I find phone calls difficult..takes a lot of screwing up of courage. And video calls uncomfortable.
Daughter does not do phone calls and only video calls for work when she has to.
Sons ...#1 does messaging. As do #2 and #3, but they will do phone calls when necessary
Ungrateful children are a fact of life for so many, no effort to drive and see us, hubby's son called on Christmas day and asked when we were next down, it's a 3 hour drive, they have not visited for almost 3 years.
Ah yes .. I recognise that family "thing".
Have a good time, whatever! xx
Nope. You follow your heart and you did. And would you trade any of it? Nope. I don't think so; I hope not. Sending all good wishes for a very good rest of the season, good visits and a happy new year!
We had my mother-in-law for Christmas dinner, normally we have a turkey 😜 - old ones are the best!
